Germanwings was a low-cost airline based in Germany. It was a subsidiary of Lufthansa, one of Europe's largest airlines. Germanwings operated flights within Europe, serving both leisure and business travelers.
However, as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, Germanwings had ceased operations. In the wake of the tragic Germanwings Flight 9525 incident in March 2015, where one of its planes crashed in the French Alps, resulting in the loss of all 150 people on board, Lufthansa made the decision to phase out the Germanwings brand. Lufthansa decided to integrate Germanwings flights into its mainline operations under the Eurowings brand.
Eurowings, another subsidiary of Lufthansa, took over most of the former Germanwings routes and continued to provide low-cost flights within Europe. It's worth noting that airline industry information can change over time, so it's advisable to check for the most up-to-date information on the status of Germanwings and its operations.
