Meridiana was an Italian airline that operated under various names throughout its history. Originally founded in 1963 as "Alisarda," the company underwent several rebrandings and mergers before eventually adopting the name "Meridiana" in 1991. In 2018, Meridiana merged with another Italian airline, Air Italy, and rebranded itself as Air Italy.

Under the Meridiana brand, the airline operated domestic and international flights from its main hubs in Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport and Milan Malpensa Airport. It served destinations in Europe, Africa, the Americas, and the Middle East. Meridiana primarily operated a fleet of Boeing and McDonnell Douglas aircraft.

However, in February 2020, Air Italy (formerly Meridiana) announced its intention to cease operations and filed for liquidation. The decision came amid financial difficulties and intense competition in the Italian aviation market. Consequently, the airline's operations were terminated, and its fleet was grounded.

It's important to note that the information provided is accurate up until my last knowledge update in September 2021. Therefore, there may have been further developments or changes regarding Meridiana and Air Italy since then.
