Mihin Lanka
Mihin Lanka was a Sri Lankan airline that operated from 2007 to 2016. It was established by the Sri Lankan government as a low-cost carrier to provide affordable air travel options for the people of Sri Lanka. The name "Mihin" is derived from the Sinhalese word for "sun."
Mihin Lanka operated domestic and international flights to various destinations in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. Its main hub was Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The airline faced financial difficulties throughout its operation and incurred significant losses. In 2016, the Sri Lankan government decided to shut down Mihin Lanka and merge it with the national carrier, SriLankan Airlines, to streamline operations and reduce costs.
Following the merger, Mihin Lanka's operations and aircraft were transferred to SriLankan Airlines. The move aimed to consolidate resources and improve the overall efficiency of Sri Lanka's aviation industry.
As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, Mihin Lanka no longer operates as an independent airline, and its services have been integrated into SriLankan Airlines. It's advisable to refer to the latest information or news sources for any updates beyond that date.
