South African Express
South African Express (SA Express) was a regional airline based in South Africa. However, as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, South African Express had been placed under provisional liquidation in April 2020 due to financial difficulties and mismanagement.
The airline, a subsidiary of South African Airways (SAA), operated scheduled domestic and regional flights within South Africa and to neighboring countries. It primarily served smaller cities and towns that were not directly served by SAA or other major airlines. SA Express operated a fleet of turboprop aircraft, including Bombardier Dash 8 and CRJ200 planes.
The decision to place South African Express under provisional liquidation came after the airline faced numerous challenges, including financial losses, a decline in passenger numbers, safety concerns, and allegations of corruption and mismanagement.
