TACA Airlines, also known as Transportes Aéreos del Continente Americano, was a major airline based in Central America. However, as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, TACA Airlines no longer exists as an independent carrier.
TACA Airlines was originally founded in 1931 in Honduras and operated under different names over the years before adopting the TACA brand in the 1960s. It grew to become one of the largest airlines in Central America, serving various destinations in North, Central, and South America, as well as the Caribbean.
In 2013, TACA Airlines merged with Avianca, a Colombian airline, to form Avianca Holdings. Following the merger, the TACA brand gradually faded away, and the airline operations were integrated under the Avianca name. Avianca continues to operate flights to many destinations previously served by TACA Airlines.
Please note that airline industry changes frequently, and there may have been further developments or rebranding after my knowledge cutoff. It's always a good idea to check with the latest sources or the official website of the airline for the most up-to-date information.
