TAM Linhas Aereas
TAM Linhas Aéreas, also known as TAM Airlines, was a Brazilian airline that operated from 1961 until 2016. It was one of the largest airlines in Latin America and had its headquarters in São Paulo, Brazil.
In 2010, TAM Airlines merged with LAN Airlines, a Chilean carrier, to form LATAM Airlines Group, which became the largest airline conglomerate in Latin America. The merger created a new brand called LATAM Airlines, and TAM Airlines operated under this new name.
Under the LATAM Airlines brand, the company served a wide range of domestic and international destinations. It had an extensive network that covered various countries in South America, North America, Europe, and Oceania.
However, in May 2020, LATAM Airlines Group filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection due to the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the aviation industry. As part of its restructuring process, LATAM Airlines made the decision to retire the TAM brand and operate solely under the LATAM name.
